About

Hello everyone!

First of all, thank you for stopping by.
Sometimes it is fun to read a little bit about the "who" behind the post. That's what I assume you came to this page for. Well, I am Julia, a young adult aspiring author and children's book illustrator. Those two things tell quite a bit about what I like to do, but in case you need me to be more specific, I enjoy writing stories, or rather coming up with story ideas and never finishing them, and art - painting with watercolors, drawing with colored and graphite pencils, and more recently, sketching with soft pastels. I also enjoy reading well-written books and playing the piano. I attempt, however imperfectly, to do all these things for God's glory. Saved from separation from God by Jesus' death on the cross and given the glorious hope of eternity in Heaven through His resurrection, I hope and pray everything I do reflects Him.

In the area of art, my main pleasure is imitating God's creation all around. My favorite subject is His masterpiece - mankind - and my second favorite subject is landscapes of all kinds. My art website is: dropintheoceanm.com, and my illustrated children's books, Heart of Wisdom ABC's, and Can I Pet a Butterfly?, can be found at https://www.shepherdhavenbooks.org/ and https://www.charisfield.org/outreach respectively.
In the area of writing, I enjoy writing stories about life. God made each person and story unique and that is what I want to recreate. I attempt to write stories that proclaim God's truth, challenge and encourage readers, and create an engaging story. I am a member on the writing site Noble Novels: https://www.noblenovels.com/.
In the area of reading, my favorite author is Gene Stratton-Porter. She has written some excellent books, my absolute favorite being The Keeper of the Bees. Two other book favorites of mine are Ben-Hur by Lew Wallace, and Westward Ho! by Charles Kingsley.

On this blog, Drop In The Ocean Manuscript, I will be posting snippets of my writings, book reviews, challenging writing articles, and more. I have not been a regular blog poster in the past, and I don't expect that to change, no matter how much I wish it would, but I do hope you are encouraged and challenged by what you read here. Thank you again for stopping by!
